Use and Abuse Issues
According to the 2010 Minnesota Student Survey:
· 48 % of Park Rapids 12th grade males have driven a motor vehicle after using alcohol and other drugs.
· 45 % of Park Rapids 9th grade females and 55% of 12th of males have ridden with friends after they have been using alcohol and drugs.
· 33% of Laporte have driven a motor vehicle after using alcohol and other drugs.
· 40% of Laporte 12th grade students have ridden with friends after they have been using alcohol and drugs.
· 48% of Nevis 12th grade students have ridden with friends after they have been using alcohol and drugs.
· Talk to your kids about getting into a vehicle after using themselves or with someone who has used.
· Practice some “outs” with them on getting home with a safe driver.
· Be the one they call if they need help to avoid being in the car with someone under the influence.
